2^nd Grade Musical

The students did a fabulous job with their musical last night.  You should be very proud of them—I know I am!

 Happy Thanksgiving!!

I am very thankful for your children and the joy they bring me each day.  I am thankful for all of the support you give me.  Please enjoy your holiday and cherish those moments with your family.  We truly have a lot to be grateful for in our wonderful community!     

Reading and Language Arts

The week after Thanksgiving we will read a fiction story about a police officer and his dog:  Officer Buckle and Gloria.  We will discuss main idea and details.  We will also review questioning, inferring and predicting. 

Spelling

Our next Spelling test will be on Friday, December 1.  This will be on the current words your student has been working on.

Math

The week after Thanksgiving we will be working on double digit subtraction.   Please continue to practice subtraction facts with your child.

Your children are very excited about their musical next Thursday.  They have been working very hard at practicing their songs.

  

 Picture Retakes

If you would like your child’s picture retaken, picture retakes will be on Tuesday, Nov. 14.  Please send in their pictures with them that day.

Reading and Language Arts

Next week students will complete a culminating task for our Friendship unit.  We will review friendship “strategies”and discuss “I messages” (I feel excluded, etc.).   Students will then work in small groups designing a story board for a short skit about being a good friend.  They will then present the skits to the class.

Math

 We will continue to work on double digit addition.  Practicing addition facts will really help your child with this skill.  We will also do Problem Solving and Story Problems.

 Halloween Party

 The children had a wonderful time at the Halloween party!  Thank you so much to Mrs. Plzak, Ms.Penwala, Mrs. Hanna  and Mr. Heard for the fun Halloween party.   Thanks also to everyone who sent something in for the party:  the  Incrocci family, the Melie family,  the Bukey family, and the Jakubec family. (If I forgot anyone, I am SO sorry!)  It was a wonderful party and we would not have been able to have it without all of you!  Thank you again!!     

 Reading Logs

This week everyone that completed their October reading log enjoyed a stuffed animal day.  In November we are reading for Pajama Day.

Reading and Language Arts

We will read and discuss a story called “Chick ‘N Pug”.  We will read the story as a Nearpod presentation on our ipads.

We will also take our assessments for our first ELA unit on Friendship.

Math

Next week we will work on double digit addition with and without regrouping
